JERSEY SHORE – Three seals were discovered Saturday at beaches throughout the Jersey Shore. Unfortunately, two were unable to be saved.
According to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center (MMSC), a deceased seal was found on Monmouth Beach Saturday and another was found on Cliffwood Beach but died overnight while in the care of MMSC volunteers. The third seal, rescued from a beach in Deal, is in stable condition as of Sunday. In addition, a fourth seal rescued by the MMSC on February 6th in Belmar also happened to pass away Saturday.
22 gray and harbor seals have been found on Jersey beaches since July of 2018, as reported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
